Washington Post addresses the importance of financial whistleblowers

The Washington Post reported today about whistleblowers in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Fort Worth office who spoke out against lax enforcement and inspection practices. Julie Preuitt, a 16-year SEC veteran and the focus of the article, was joined by several other SEC officials in voicing her concern with the cursory nature of the investigations carried out by the Fort Worth office. For her efforts to boost SEC effectiveness, Preuitt was demoted and eventually resigned.
